Start time 07.00am
Float rod fishing one metre from the ban on drift down float rig.
One maggot and few loose fed. Rudd up to 4oz one a cast. (not really a cast, more just release the bail arm).
This continued until the small perch took over.
Rod 2. hair rigged pawn and cast to the overhanging branches on the left of the swim, fed a few maggots, to get the smaller fish interested and hopefully bring in the bigger perch. (the search for bigger perch continues).
Perch and Rudd action kept going along as a few maggots were introduced.
08.45am. slightly bigger perch to 8oz on single maggot. Swapped over onto lob worm, all bites stopped and nothing for nearly an hour.
09.15am swapped back and the bites started again, one per cast.
09.30am feeder rod indicator jumped up and this produced a just on the 1lb mark perch.
Rebaited and instant take this produced another just over a pound perch.
10.00am the whole area went dead.
10.30am feeder rod took off, hooked something, never came near the surface, broke up.
10.45am swap over reel spool with 10lb line, rebaited with two pawns.
11.15am feeder rod nearly taken out of the rod rests, managed to play the fish for a couple of minutes, never identified it, before shedding the hook.
12.00am rebaited, not touched at all.
Carried on with the Rudd and Perch fishing. Did message Shaun and enquired as to whether there are any pike in the lake, but no one seems to know.
I will give it a go on my next visit and let you know the results.
Steve.
